Since RD Williams inception in 1988, we have always focussed on our valued customers and ensuring we provide top quality products and services at a value for money price. Founder Rod Williams together with business partner Dick Karreman started out with a vision to create a network of specialist businesses that provide a unique earth moving and construction industry supply experience.
Starting out from humble beginnings, RD Williams Machinery was established to fill a void in the market where customers were looking for good quality used earth moving machinery. Still residing at 1917 Ipswich Rd Rocklea today, Rod Williams commitment to doing what he said he’d do has gained the company a solid reputation as a supplier of machinery to a standard of excellence few companies ever achieve. We made the conscious decision not to become a dealer for one specific OEM brand, which means that we can provide unbiased advice and ensure that every customer gets the best machine to meet their requirements: whether that means the customer buys a Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo, Kobelco, Case or any other brand. Specialising in the sale of reliable low hour machinery, our customers benefit through substantial savings through greatly reduced depreciation and financing costs compared to buying new machinery.
Rod was a very visionary and entrepreneurial gentleman and realised that there was a niche to be found in supporting the Machinery sales side post-sale. As a result, two complementary businesses were established:
RD Williams Spare Parts was founded in 1992 to support primarily Caterpillar equipment users but has since grown to also support Komatsu and other brands such as John Deere and Volvo. We are a leading provider of new replacement parts, which helps reduce the total ownership costs and by being responsive to customer needs, increase machine uptime.
In 1993, RD Williams Excavator Parts commenced as the first truly expert Excavator specialist provider and continues to this day to ensure that owners of all brands of excavators have a company they can go to for any needs end-to-end related to their excavator. This is a unique business that stocks and provides everything customers may require, from undercarriage to cabs, hydraulic pumps valves and cylinders, to final drives and everything in between. This business also includes attachments, with a further investment into this segment in 2009 with the acquisition of QRB Qld Rock Breakers.
QRB Qld Rock Breakers core product was hydraulic rock breakers. Whilst this continues to be the main product category in relation to excavator attachments, the business has developed to now include a full range of hydraulic attachments (rock breakers, processing buckets, road planers and profilers, twin head cutters, pulverisers etc) as well as general excavator attachments (all types of buckets from General Purpose digging buckets, sieve buckets, tilting buckets, rippers, compaction wheels etc).
Our businesses continue to improve and develop and has recently rebranded. The values remain the same, but in order to simplify our message to customers, RD Williams was abbreviated to RDW. This meant that RD Williams Machinery evolved into RDW Machinery. Likewise, RDW Parts and RDW Excavator Parts emerged with the clear direction to be simple and easy to do business with.
All the businesses are founded on the principal that our customers will receive the highest level of customer service in every transaction. We also understand the importance of providing customers options to suit their budget, hence why we have a comprehensive inventory of genuine new, new replacement, used and reconditioned parts and components available in stock, to ensure fast turnarounds and to get our customers back to work and earning an income as quickly as possible.
All our businesses have separate workshop facilities that is set up to support the products that each one provides. We proudly remain a 100% totally Australian owned and operated private company. Paying our taxes in Australia, our profits are reinvested in Australia into our core business of supporting the Earthmoving and Construction Equipment industries.
